This is an illustration (created in 3d Studio Max and Adobe Photoshop) depicting the vital process that takes place within the alveoli of the human lungs. While researching this subject at UIC, I was amazed at the intricate process that takes place every time we take a breath of fresh air. Too many times we take for granted the smallest things in life and don’t realize the importance and beauty within our tiniest structures. This illustration shows the gorgeous interaction between the smallest macrophages and bacteria, blood and gas exchange, and type 1 and 2 cells.
