This image is an overhead camera shot of Cli-Mate running on Tactile (a multi-touch table). Cli-Mate is an interactive application that allows climate scientists to view and analyze their data in a multi-touch environment. This tool works by connecting to existing climate tools, capturing the output, and displaying the results in a multi-touch window system. Typically a mouse or a command line interface drives these existing climate analysis tools, and it is difficult for scientists to collaborate in such an environment. Cli-Mate leverages the capabilities of multi-touch tables to enhance scientific collaboration by allowing a group of scientists to interact at the same time without re-writing existing tools that scientists use.
