"The H1N1 flu virus has created quite an uproar this flu season. However, research of the symptoms, prevention and spread of the virus, has shown that H1N1 follows the same mode of action as any other influenza virus. Using typography as artistic communication, Hands Off! to H1N1 depicts a clean hand in a dirty environment, showing how hands acquire a plethora of microorganisms through daily activities. Such microorganisms, which may include the H1N1 virus, can easily be picked up and transferred to others. This public service announcement works to educate and provide awareness to the general public in a non-threatening manner. Hands Off! to H1N1 was created using Adobe CS4 Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. My work in the Biomedical Visualization program has provided me with the ability to not only render scientific art accurate, but to also make projects attractive, educational and attainable to all individuals no matter their educational level."
