Acoustic characterization of axial flow left ventricular assist device operation in Vitro and in Vivo.

Spectral analysis revealed harmonic peaks whose frequency matched expected values based on device impeller speed. Analysis of spectral tracings and area under the curve of spectral slices suggested an acoustic pattern associated with thrombosis.
