Bradenton, Florida's Form Based Code prescribes various types of voids as transitions between the public street and the private house. The Hedge Houses formalize the void by creating pyramid shape. Each house is customized based on its location, orientation, rotation, and size. The continuity of the void along the front facade allows for material continuity one the front of the house, extending the siding and windows or the shingles and dormers through the entire front facade along the void. The solid and void are divided by the sidewalk, but is continued all the way to the street resulting in unique but familiar elevations.
