The two-dimensional problem of electromagnetic radiation
from a line source located inside an elliptic-cylinder confocal
sheath of double-negative metamaterial is solved exactly by separation of variables. Numerical results are presented and discussed
for the radiation pattern and the field inside the sheath, as functions of frequency, location of the line source, and sheath thickness and eccentricity.
