When home does not offer shelter: partner violence in the time of pandemics

During a public health emergency, home may not always be the safest place. Roughly one-third of U.S. women will experience physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime, and in Illinois, between 6%-13% of women are stalked or assaulted by a partner each year. This brief highlights the issues many survivors of partner violence likely face when lockdowns are issued, and offers resources and actions the community can take to help protect people living with a violent partner.
