Accumulating of reports, suggest the indispensable role that lipids play in spatiotemporal regulation of cellular signaling events through nonspecific electrostatic interaction and specific binding site on the PM. Cellular functions of some lipids have been well studied. However, the potential critical signaling roles of other bulk lipids with constitutively high concentrations on the PM, such as cholesterol, PS, and phosphatidylcholine, are usually ignored. We systematically investigated the potential signaling role of cholesterol and PS during our study, and successfully discovered the crucial signaling role of those lipids.
