The measurement of barriers to physical activity has been a growing body of research. However there are two fundamental limitations for barrier questionnaires: they do not measure barriers from an ecological perspective and primarily use one psychometric analysis technique. This study developed a Barriers to Physical Activity Questionnaire (BPAQ) for adults with mobility disabilities. The BPAQ placed equal weight to the four domains of the ecological framework. Item Response and Classical Test theory techniques were used to assess the BPAQ’s reliability and validity.
