Foundations of Ring Arithmetic

This thesis explores the “galaxy” of integrally closed domains through arithmetic properties of rings, starting with standard domain class inclusions {Euclidean domains} ⊊ {PIDs} ⊊ {UFDs} ⊊ {GCDDs}, with a special emphasis on quadratic number fields and their rings of integers.
