This is a retrospective study that evaluates mandibular growth changes in Class II subject treated with maxillary transverse expansion and overbite reduction. Methods: This study included a treated group and a control untreated group. Two consecutive lateral cephalometric radiographs were collected for each subject at two time intervals. Cephalometric measurements were used to evaluate growth changes in both groups. Results: The treated group that underwent palatal expansion along with utility arches did not show significant improvement in mandibular position when compared with the control group. Conclusions: the null hypothesis was not rejected and the investigated treatment protocol did not affect mandibular growth when compared to the untreated group. IRB/ACCC protocol: 2010-1112
