Titanium abutment as part of superstructure on dental implants has been used for years due to its
excellent mechanical property and bio-inert property. However, colonization by oral microbial biofilm on the
Titanium (Ti) alloy surface may lead to peri-implantitis as the frequent biological complication. Coating of Ti
surfaces has been one of the approach to reduce microbial biofilm formation and colonization. Objectives: To
investigate the surface-altering properties of Ti implant abutment material with nano-TiO2/ZrO2 coating using
Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) technique.
